Big congratulations to two of our DPhil students, Xiaoyu and Kavya, who have passed their vivas with minor corrections! Xiaoyu's work is on developing novel inorganic compounds for indoor photovoltaics. Highlights include evaluating the potential of BiSBr for indoor energy harvesting, as well as understanding the role of sulfur vacancies in BiSBr in causing carrier localisation. She also developed H:In2O3 by spatial atomic layer deposition as transparent conducting oxides for photovoltaics. Xiaoyu has since had her minor corrections approved by her examiners, and had her passing of her DPhil officially confirmed at the end of March.
Kavya's DPhil was focussed on developing BiOI for X-ray detection, focussing on the growth and scale-up of this material. Her work was in collaboration with the Science & Technology Facilities Council, as well as the University of Cambridge and University at Buffalo.
Well done to both, and a big thank you to their examiners!
